So guess what. I went on vacation! Did you guess? I don’t like to advertise when I will be away (and when my house will be empty, etc.) but it’s sort of obvious when I drop off the face of the planet for ten days. I wasn’t entirely disconnected. I checked email a few times a day on my iphone. But other than that, I pretty much tuned out the world. No Facebook! No Twitter! No Blogging!
I just uploaded my pics and sorted them all in iphoto. Here’s where I was.

It’s our family’s property in upstate New York. The property belongs to the big extended family, so there are about a dozen houses and sometimes dozens of people up there at any given time. It has a private beach on the lake, and when a lot of people are up, the beach can be really jammin’. For some reason, we were the only people up there last week, so it was the only time I’ve ever had the beach to myself. It was so peaceful and relaxing…

Wait, did I say relaxing? I forgot I had a four year old who wanted me to swim with him the entire time and a ten month old who was on a personal mission to eat all the sand on the beach. So maybe it wasn’t all that relaxing. 😉
So I don’t have all that much to report. My four year old is ready to learn to swim without a floaty vest, so I need to sign him up for swimming lessons. My ten month old started crawling during our vacation. So now we’re in full child-proofing mode. We need gates and drawer locks and all that jazz.

I’m the same way, I don’t tell the blog when I’m away, or when Jason is out of town. 😉 looks like a fabulous vacation spot, and how exciting for the swimming and the crawling!

Oh yes, that’s the other thing, when the husband travels. Never ever blog about that. It amazes me how some bloggers are all “I’m at home alone, my man is gone for a week, la la la”
I make it a point to never give away if the husband is on travel, don’t know who may be reading the blog.
At least the vacation must have been a change from the regular routine 🙂
That’s good. Sometimes we bloggers forget to respect our own privacy!

Just remember to be aware and take extra safety precautions, especially when the world knows you’re alone.

Aw, glad to hear that you’re alive and well! I had wondered where you had gone to. Glad you got a nice family vacation (even if it wasn’t all that relaxing;). I hope it was more fun than the usual grind. We have a couple vacations coming up and I am super excited!!

It is. Unfortunately, someone paid for a wireless signal up there, so people were more connected than usual. I fully expect next year, everyone will show up with their laptops. Le sigh.
I love when I am able to completely disconnect from facebook, twitter, etc. That was what was so great about Alaska in that I didn’t have cell service! Sounds like you had a wonderful vacay!
Yeah, being on a cruise ship and completely out of touch is awesome. Now if they would just stop playing CNN by the pool.

Glad you had a good vacation! Although I hear ya on it not being so relaxing with a kid. I told Peter my half marathon vacation will probably be more relaxing. I may have to run 13.1 miles but I won’t have to keep up with the children 24/7. LOL

Glad you got in a semi relaxing vacation! My four year cousin is learning how to swim this summer, too! Swim lessons really helped him not be too afraid of the water!
Do you know if he can keep himself afloat yet? I wish I could figure out how to teach my son to do that.

Lucky indeed. My husband grew up going there each summer, and he and his cousins have such great memories. I look forward to my kids having the same!

Thanks! Unplugging is critical now and then, especially when you’re in the country and can enjoy beautiful surroundings (oh, and bats).
